Upcoming Events - 2006
Most of the sponsored events of the society are held at the Wellington County Museum & Archives, Located on County Road 18 between Fergus and Elora.
- April 3 (Sunday) - 2:00pm - Memories of the Cars of Wellington County. This will be a "show and tell" event and you are invited to bring an artefact, photo, anecdote or memory from your automotive past to share. The event will be held at the Wellington County Museum and Archives, Nicholas Keith Room.
- May 1 (Sunday) - 2:30pm - Paul Day will speak on "Trees for Peel". The event will be held at the Wellington County Museum and Archives, Nicholas Keith Room.
- June 6 (Monday) - 7:00pm - Annual General Meeting at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. Cindy Clow Danton will speak on "Heritage Interiors of Wellington County". The event will be held at the Wellington County Museum and Archives, Aboyne Hall.
Information Wanted
- Call for Papers for Volume 19 of Wellington County History. The publications committee welcomes essays on topics clearly related to the county. For more information please contact Ian Easterbrook at (519)843-6576, Doris Wooddisse at (519)638-5044 or Michael Robinson at (519)848-6129.
- The Wellington County Historical Society is sponsoring an essay competition for the year 2005. The topic is "I Remember Hurricane Hazel" drawing on personal or family experiences (or those of immediate relatives). Essay should be about 1000-1200 words in length and typed double-spaced. Include your name, address, phone number on separate sheet and send to P.O. Box 5, Fergus ON N1M 2W7.
- If you have any stories, anecdotes or references on local weather between 1750-1980 on items such as tornadoes, sever storms, blizzards, warm spells, etc. you can send them to: Senior Climatologist, David Phillips at Environment Canada, Stmospheric Environment Service, 4905 Dufferin Street, Downsview, ON M3H 5T4 or fax them to 416-739-4180.
