IST Client Services Organization

Client Services Groups

Desktop Support, Academic Support Units

Support for the desktop computing environment in the academic support units including: hardware (regular renewal of desktop computers), software, troubleshooting, liaison and training.

Faculty Consulting and Liaison

Consulting and liaison with the faculties on issues related to computer systems and technologies.

Web Support

Support for the development of the UW Web space, including the orderly evolution of the UW Common Look and Feel.

Scientific Computing Support

Support for mathematical/scientific computing software including: matlab, maple.

CHIP - Computing Help and Information Place

The primary point of contact for IST services including: help desk services (drop in and call centre), problem tracking and resolution, software distribution, account management for IST services (dialup, printing).

General Services

Userid administration on IST servers, UWdir maintenance, OMR and form scanning, printing services for corporate applications.

Training

Development and delivery of high quality training programs in the use of computer technologies in the University environment..

*The Role of a Service Coordinator

Service Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day operation of a service area. This responsibility is dynamic in the sense that it might be reassigned to another person (without loss of status) on a temporary (e.g. in the case of a vacation) or rotational basis. Of course all staff share in all of the following responsibilities, but the Service Coordinator is responsible for making sure they get done. The responsibilities of a service coordinator include:
